From the open plains of Masai Mara, the shimmery pink waters of Lake Nakuru and the swamps of Amboseli, this safari takes in three of the most picturesque regions in Kenya. It also provides the perfect opportunity to spot the Big-5 and to capture some diverse scenery.
DAY 1 : Arusha (Lake Duluti)
Arrive Kilimanjaro International Airport (flight booked by agent), where guests are met and transferred to their hotel located a short distance from Arusha City Centre. Overnight Arusha Serena Hotel on bed and breakfast basis (excludes other meals, drinks and laundry) Four Points by Sheraton Arusha, The Arusha Hotel Established in 1894, the Four Points by Sheraton Arusha is one of the oldest hotels in East Africa. Saturated with the history of a bygone era, traditional ambience is effortlessly combined with the style and service you wish for when travelling. The hotel features 106 stylish rooms, free Wi-Fi, a 24-hour gym, Parachichi restaurant as well as the famous Hatari Bar offering live or DJ music on Fridays. Parachichi Restaurant, ‘avocado’ in Kiswahili, overlooks our beautiful garden and is the perfect place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Take a dip in our outdoor swimming pool and relax after a good work out in our gym with views of the pool and gardens.
DAY 2 : Arusha - Lake Manyara National Park
Morning at leisure with safari briefing followed by lunch. In the afternoon, join seat in vehicle safari and depart Arusha passing through the Masai Steppe filled with many picturesque African villages as well as maize, coffee and banana plantations. At the town of Makuyuni turn North West and continue the journey through a scenic escarpment that brings you to your lodge, perched on the edge of the Rift Valley with stunning views over the distant Lake Manyara. Overnight at Lake Manyara Serena on full board basis (excludes laundry and drinks) Lake Manyara Serena Lodge Standing high on the edge of a towering terracotta escarpment with panoramic views over the glittering alkaline waters of Lake Manyara, Lake Manyara Serena Safari Lodge offers a unique blend of tranquillity, wildlife discovery, and ornithological richness. The unprecedented range of high-adventure sports include mountain biking, canoeing, forest walks and treetop walkway, while cultural choices include tours of the neighbouring villages and traditional lunch (all at additional costs).
DAY 3 :Lake Manyara National Park - Serengeti National Park
After breakfast, there is a game drive in Lake Manyara National Park that returns to the lodge for lunch. Leaving Lake Manyara behind, the journey continues North West across the stunning hilly countryside of the highlands which is filled with wheat and coffee plantations, and then into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. From here lie the vast plains of the Serengeti, where you begin spotting wildlife as you approach the entrance gate. Complete the formalities and enter the park with game viewing en route to the lodge arriving for dinner Overnight at Serengeti Sopa Lodge on a full board basis Serengeti Sopa Lodge Nestled in the acacia woodland on the edge of the escarpment overlooking the plains of the south-western Serengeti National Park, one of the most famous parks in the world, and host to the largest and most spectacular annual migration of the wildebeest. The lodge is set in the Nyarboro Hills, in the South West overlooking the Serengeti Plains. The lodge offers 69 standard rooms, all with 2 queen size beds, carpeted, and tastefully furnished with local fabrics and pictures. On entering the room there is a private lounge area . In the front is a veranda with 2 comfortable chairs and coffee table, with glass windows facing the vast Serengeti plains which extend as far as the eye can see. The rooms have en-suite bathrooms. A veranda extends from the room facing the plains, ideal for relaxing and watching game.
DAY 4 : Serengeti National Park
Morning and afternoon game drives in Serengeti National Park. Overnight at Serengeti Serena Lodge on full board basis (excludes laundry and drinks) OPTIONAL Shared Hot Air Balloon Safari You may book a hot air balloon safari for this day. Early morning shared transfer in the balloon company vehicle to the balloon staging site. You meet the pilot who provides a safety briefing while the crew inflate the hot air balloon. At sunrise, you shared hot air balloon lifts off over the Serengeti plains. At times, your pilot will ascend to a higher altitude to give you an overview of the ecosystem. Then you descend to just above treetop level to silently observe the wildlife below. After about 50 minutes, you land and are met by the balloon staff to transport you to your shared bush breakfast. You then return to your camp or lodge. Please note that the cost is NOT included in the safari cost. Please ask for the current rates.
DAY 5 : Serengeti National Park - Ngorongoro Crater
After breakfast you depart for Ngorongoro with a picnic lunch viewing wildlife across the vast Serengeti plains, stopping en route for a picnic lunch. Continue to your lodge, set high on the rim of Ngorongoro Crater arriving for dinner Overnight at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge on full board basis (excludes laundry and drinks) Ngorongoro Sopa Lodge Perched on the rim of the collapsed volcano, the Ngorongoro Crater, a world heritage site, often referred to as the eighth wonder of the world. It has the most magnificent views over the crater floor, which is home to vast herds of buffalo, wildebeest, zebra, the rare and endangered black rhino, elephant, cheetah, leopard, lion and herds of gazelle and wildebeest. Its position on the Eastern rim allows the most spectacular and uninterrupted views of the sunset. All of the 91 double bedrooms are very spacious, and each have two queen sized beds and a separate dressing area. Each room has a glass fronted veranda, to enjoy a private view of the Crater. The lodge has 6 single rooms, all of which have a queen-sized beds and glass fronted sliding doors. Themed around traditionally circular African houses with conical roofs and decorated with examples of Africa’s rich tapestry of artistic traditions by way of rich woodcarvings and sculptures, the lodge harmonizes perfectly with its dramatic surroundings. But the drama does not just stop with the great outdoors: it also flows through the split-level interiors of the main building which all offer an unsurpassed generosity of space while somehow managing to combine an almost magically welcoming ambience of both warmth and comfort.
DAY 6 : Ngorongoro Crater
A highlight awaits you this morning as you depart to explore what is commonly referred to as the World’s largest natural wildlife arena. After an early breakfast, you drive to the crater entry gate and descend with a picnic lunch through the early morning mists and 2,000 feet into the crater. Ngorongoro Crater is the World’s largest intact volcanic caldera. Due to its size and diversity, the crater floor is comprised of several distinct areas, ranging from forest, swamps, lakes and springs, to open grassland and some sandy dunes. A truly unique wildlife experience. Return to the lodge in the late afternoon. Overnight at Ngorongoro Serena Lodge on full board basis (excludes laundry and drinks)
DAY 7 : Ngorongoro Crater - Tarangire National Park
Depart Ngorongoro Crater after breakfast, head south east past Lake Manyara and Mto wa Mbu Village. Through the highlands and the Karatu district, you’ll view the scenic wheat plains and coffee plantations here before journeying down the spectacular escarpment turning south on to the main Arusha – Dodoma road and into the park. From here to the lodge, enjoy a game drive en route. After lunch board your safari vehicle and enjoy an afternoon game viewing within the park. Overnight at Tarangire Sopa Lodge on full board basis (excludes laundry and drinks) Tarangire Sopa Lodge Hidden among the kopjes, lies Tarangire Sopa Lodge, surrounded by ancient baobab trees. It is the home to one of the greatest concentration of elephants in Africa, and other game including the elusive leopard. Over 400 bird species have been identified within the park. With water constantly available through the Tarangire River, the greenery is lush providing a wonderful contrast Spacious and airy with marble floors, the lobby has glass sliding doors that open out to a veranda where one can relax and enjoy the view. The ceiling has a wooden finishing, and the décor with plants in strategic places, gives it a feeling of total relaxation, much needed after the long and dusty drive to the lodge. There is also a swimming pool for those that want to take a refreshing dip. The lodge boasts 75 spacious rooms, all with a private lounge on entering. Each room is carpeted, has 2 queen size beds with a mosquito net around them. Ceiling fans keep the rooms cool and glass sliding doors that open out on to a balcony, with a great view of the landscape beyond.
DAY 8 : Tarangire National Park - Arusha
Depart after breakfast and head north east to Arusha. The journey will pass through the Masai Steppe filled with many picturesque African villages as well as maize, coffee and banana plantations. On arrival in Arusha lunch is provided followed by transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport to connect international departure flight (booked by agent).
